Details
Description
The Universal Learning Details page is a modern, unified learning object details experience that delivers a consistent UI and tab-based navigation and actions across all supported LMS and LX learning objects. It replaces the fragmented, type-specific detail pages previously used, opening supported Materials, Tests, Events, Sessions, Videos, Curricula, Online Courses, Online Classes, user-generated content, Smart Cards, Web URLs, uploaded files, and text cards in one consistent layout.
The page includes a clean header that surfaces the title, type, thumbnail, transcript and required status, provider, duration, due date, languages, badges, and points, alongside dedicated tabs for Content, Tasks, Sessions, Discussions, and Reviews and Ratings. Learners, managers, and admins can navigate, act, and understand status the same way everywhere, with inline actions such as bookmark, share, register, download, and task actions available directly on the page.
Business Need
Customers offering both LMS and LX learning objects force learners to bounce between different detail page layouts, labels, and actions. This fragmentation creates confusion, extra clicks, and support overhead, with learners repeatedly asking where to register or why pages look different.
By opening all supported LMS and LX learning objects in one universal, modern details page, this enhancement removes that inconsistency. Learners get a single predictable experience that streamlines the path from discovery to consumption, reduces support burden, and establishes a scalable foundation for future learning experiences.
Key Features
- A unified, modern details page renders supported LMS and LX learning objects with a consistent header, tabs, and actions across all object types.
- The Content tab presents the full curriculum structure and all sections in one organized, modernized layout, making it easy to navigate and track progress without leaving the page.
- The Tasks tab surfaces prerequisites, pre-work, and post-work as consistent tile cards showing name, due date, duration, provider, and transcript status.
- The Sessions tab provides a sortable session list with at-a-glance details and a focused flyout that surfaces full session information and a request session action.
- The Discussions tab lets learners read peer comments, post their own, and edit or remove their contributions directly from the page.
- The Reviews and Ratings tab lets learners read reviews, post or remove a star rating and comment, and view the average rating and total reviews upfront.
Deployment & Considerations
This early adopter feature is available with the July 2026 release and is limited to Cornerstone single architecture customers only; it is not available to Cornerstone-only customers. The feature is off by default and must be activated by an admin under Admin > Tools > Learning > Learning Preferences > Feature Activation > Universal Learning Details page. When enabled, the page applies to all supported learning objects for all users in the portal, and supported LX learning objects proceed to one player; when disabled, LX learning objects open exclusively in the existing LX pages.
Several items are not supported in this release: quizzes, polls, pathways, and journeys are excluded and continue to redirect to their existing LX detail pages with no change in behavior. Additionally, configured disclaimer messages on request, review filters, pricing options (Add to Cart, Buy Now) for LX content, instructional text for LX content, and the request recurrence action are not included in this release and are planned for upcoming releases. Administrators require appropriate learning permissions to perform the activation.
