Details
Description
The Actions and Requests homepage widget gives employees a single, centralized place to view and act on pending actions and requests. This release expands the widget to support additional action and request types, so more of a user's actionable items surface directly on the homepage. The newly supported actions are development plans and skills feedback, and the newly supported requests are development plan approvals and peer approvals.
Each card surfaces the information a user needs to act quickly. Development plan cards show the plan title, status, due date for actions, and submission date for requests. Skills feedback cards show the request title and status, with the due date displayed as N/A since skills feedback has no due dates. Peer approval cards show the title, status, and date submitted. Clicking Launch on any card redirects the user to the relevant development plan, feedback request, or peer request in the employee relationship page.
Business Need
Employees and managers previously had to navigate across multiple modules to find and act on pending actions and requests, slowing task completion and reducing visibility into what needed attention. By surfacing more action and request types in a single homepage widget, this enhancement improves productivity and ensures timely completion of tasks.
The expanded support is especially valuable for managers, who can now approve pending requests from their reports — including development plan and peer approvals — directly from their homepage, without drilling into separate areas of the system.
Key Features
- Development plan actions and approvals are accessible directly from the Actions and Requests homepage widget.
- Skills feedback requests display in the widget when an employee, manager, or admin requests feedback on a skill.
- Peer approval requests appear in the approver's widget when an employee requests that a peer be added to a peer group.
- Each card displays contextual details such as the title, status, and the relevant due date or date submitted.
- Users can act immediately by clicking Launch or the available action on each card to be redirected to the underlying item.
Deployment & Considerations
These enhancements are available at the start of UAT and with the production release. They are on by default for customers already using the Actions and Requests homepage widget. The features are available to current Cornerstone and Learning Experience customers, as well as single architecture customers.
There are no new permissions introduced, but the features rely on existing permissions, including Development Plan - Manage, Development Plan - Edit, Approve User Ratings, and Employee Relationships - Manage. Administrators should confirm that relevant users hold these existing permissions so the corresponding actions and requests appear correctly in the widget.
