Description
This release extends Cornerstone Talent Marketplace Projects and Mentorships to the single architecture platform with the July 2026 release. Projects give employees short-term gigs and cross-functional initiatives to apply their skills in real-world scenarios, gain hands-on experience, and build connections across the organization. Mentorships connect employees with experienced guides through AI-driven mentor recommendations, and when integrated with Cornerstone Performance, mentees can launch structured check-ins directly from their mentorships.
By moving these capabilities to single architecture, the experience is built on centralized Cornerstone settings, entities, and permissions. Administrators configure GenAI-generated descriptions, manage permissions centrally, and work with richer Cornerstone-aligned fields, while end users benefit from an improved discovery experience using flyouts, filters, and an OU picker.
Business Need
Existing Talent Marketplace customers preparing to migrate to single architecture need a consistent, well-governed experience rather than a separately managed module. Previously, project and mentor data structures were not aligned with core Cornerstone entities, creating inconsistency in how skills, locations, and jobs were represented across the platform and adding administrative overhead during rollout.
Unifying Projects and Mentorships on single architecture simplifies cross-product enablement, speeds rollout through centralized admin features, and delivers consistent, Cornerstone-aligned data across the experience. Managers gain better visibility into how their teams engage with development opportunities, supporting more informed and meaningful career conversations.
Key Features
- Administrators can configure AI-generated project and mentor descriptions and manage all related permissions within centralized Cornerstone settings, with GenAI inactive by default until enabled.
- Project and mentor profile fields are aligned to Cornerstone entities, including location OU, time zones, skills from the capabilities library, and jobs from job management.
- Mentors can be onboarded in bulk via CSV import, making it efficient to launch mentorships at scale or migrate existing mentor data.
- Users see transparent recommendation explanations on project and mentor carousels, with default text that administrators can customize per language.
- Project completion supports skill outcomes: declared skills can be auto-assigned to participants who successfully complete a project, and project owners can optionally rate participant skills, with both options usable together.
- Workflow emails are powered by Cornerstone email administration, and project and mentor metadata is available in Reporting 2.0.
Deployment & Considerations
These features will be available in Stage 3 at the start of UAT and with the production release of July 2026. They require Talent Marketplace to be activated. Relevant permissions fall under the Learning Experience category and include Manage Talent Marketplace, Can Be A Mentor, Can View Mentorship Opportunities, Can Create Talent Marketplace Programs and Projects, and Can View Project Opportunities; no permission constraints are available for these.
GenAI support is inactive by default and must be enabled; once active, project owners and mentors can generate or rewrite descriptions up to three times using contextual inputs. Administrators should configure notification emails by filtering email administration by the Talent Marketplace action type. Known limitations include: projects do not yet support association with organizational units; projects and mentorships do not support availability or constraints, so all projects and mentors are visible to users with the respective permissions; project and mentorship APIs are not available in single architecture; and the project approval workflow is not available. Digest emails for both projects and mentorships are planned for a future release.
