Description
Single Architecture Career Preferences delivers a unified experience that lets employees express their career intent and lets the organization leverage that data for internal mobility. Previously, career preference questions were split between Cornerstone and Learning Experience and configured across multiple HR data areas. This release consolidates them into one portal-wide standardized question set with simplified settings that link directly to jobs and vacancies.
End users can set and update their preferences in the onboarding flow, from the Complete Your Profile widget on the home experience, and from a new Career Preferences tab on their profile that shows saved preferences and the last updated date. Managers can view individual career preferences from the Manager Dashboard, and the data feeds a career preference sub-score that improves job and vacancy matching in Talent Marketplace.
Business Need
Organizations struggled with career preference data that was fragmented across Cornerstone and Learning Experience, buried in the interface, and rarely updated by employees. This reduced completion rates, weakened matching quality, and increased administrative effort to maintain the configuration.
By bringing the questions together into a single standardized experience surfaced at multiple points in the flow of work, this release increases completion and update frequency, powers better internal mobility and matching, and reduces admin overhead. It establishes the foundation for a multi-release initiative that starts with Talent Marketplace and expands to power succession and talent sourcing.
Key Features
- Employees and the organization work from a single portal-wide standardized and localized career preferences question set rather than fragmented questions across modules.
- Administrators select which questions are visible, mark them as required or optional, set the display order, and customize the guidance text shown to employees.
- End users can set and update their preferences from three entry points: the onboarding flow, the Complete Your Profile home widget, and the new Career Preferences profile tab.
- Questions and guidance text can be localized so employees see preferences in their language.
- Managers can view operational jobs and career preferences on the individual profile view of the Manager Dashboard to support more informed development conversations.
- A career preference sub-score compares user preferences against job and vacancy fields to score how well a user matches in Talent Marketplace.
- New permissions for editing and viewing career preferences support constraints so users only see and modify what they are authorized to.
Deployment & Considerations
This feature is releasing as an early adopter capability in the July 2026 release for Single Architecture customers who have Learning Experience and Talent Marketplace. Talent Marketplace requires activation, and this specific feature requires activation via Global Customer Support because it is in early adoption. The matching capability becomes available in stage at the start of UAT and in production with the production release.
Three new permissions are introduced under the Learning Experience category: managing career preference questions (required, along with system settings access, to configure the page), editing career preferences, and viewing career preferences, with the edit and view permissions supporting constraints. Not included in this release but planned for the future are migration from Cornerstone Career Preferences, Reporting 2.0, and succession use cases; migration from Learning Experience to Single Architecture is supported. Out of scope entirely is any data sync between the new Career Preferences and existing Cornerstone preferences, and custom questions are not supported in this phase.
