Description

This release introduces a collection of usability enhancements across the Goals module within Cornerstone Performance Management, focused on making everyday goal management simpler, faster, and more intuitive for both employees and managers. The Team Goals page filtering experience is now aligned with the My Goals page, the goal description field includes a richer content authoring experience through an enhanced text editor, and stretch and threshold target values are now surfaced directly in the Goal Details view.

In addition, a new field in goal configuration lets administrators define the singular label for goals, enabling the system to dynamically apply the appropriate singular terminology across messages, notifications, and UI text. The pending approvals widget from the Inbox now redirects users to the new pending approvals tab, with visibility governed by permissions.

Business Need

Managing goals day to day previously involved inconsistent filtering behavior between the Team Goals and My Goals pages, limited formatting options for goal descriptions, and target details that did not surface stretch and threshold values where users needed them. These gaps created friction for employees and managers performing routine goal management tasks.

By aligning filtering, enriching content authoring, and exposing target detail values, these enhancements reduce everyday friction and improve consistency across the application. The new singular label configuration further allows organizations to tailor goal terminology to their own conventions, ensuring system-generated messages reflect each customer's preferred language.

Key Features

  • Team Goals filters are now aligned with My Goals filters, allowing managers to apply Include Cancelled Goals, Hide Completed Goals, goal status filters, and perspective filters through a consistent flyout experience.
  • The goal description field now includes a rich text editor with enhanced formatting and editing options, including link editing, for richer content authoring.
  • Stretch and threshold target values are now displayed within the Goal Details view for targets.
  • A new goal configuration field allows administrators to define the singular label for goals, which the system uses dynamically across messages, notifications, and UI text, with support for localization.
  • The pending approvals widget from the Inbox now redirects users to the new pending approvals tab, with visibility controlled by the Goals Approve permission or goals delegation permission.

Deployment & Considerations

These enhancements are available with the start of the UAT period on the stage environment and with the production release on production, where they are on by default. No new permissions are added for the usability enhancements themselves; however, visibility of the pending approvals tab is controlled through the Goals Approve permission, which should be assigned only to users responsible for goal approvals and is not recommended for organizations that do not use goal approval workflows. Users with goals delegation permission can also view the pending approvals tab.

For the new singular goals label configuration, the value defaults to goal. Administrators are recommended to review and update this value in English and all other supported languages based on their preferred terminology, and to ensure it aligns with the configured plural label for consistency. If the value is not updated, system messages will continue to display the default term.
