Details

Description

Course Assistant is a new AI-powered capability, currently available in closed beta, that changes how learners interact with training. Presented at SKO under the name Conversational Learning, it embeds an intelligent assistant directly inside the course experience in OnePlayer.

Instead of re-watching entire courses, learners can get an instant summary of the content, ask questions about the lesson they are currently viewing, and go deeper with guided follow-up prompts. All assistance stays scoped to the course content, and learners can rate AI responses with thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback to improve quality over time.

Business Need

Learners often need to revisit specific points in training without consuming an entire course again, and they frequently have questions that go unanswered in the moment, reducing comprehension and engagement. Forcing learners to re-watch material or search elsewhere for clarification creates friction and wastes time.

By providing instant, in-context summaries and answers directly within the course, Course Assistant boosts comprehension and engagement while keeping learners focused on the relevant material. This reduces drop-off and helps organizations get more value from their existing content.

Key Features

  • Learners can generate instant AI summaries of course content, eliminating the need to re-watch entire lessons.
  • Learners can ask AI questions about the current lesson in context, right where they are in OnePlayer.
  • Learners can explore topics more deeply through guided follow-up questions that improve comprehension and engagement.
  • Learners can provide thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback on AI responses.
  • Administrators can enable AI-assisted features per content using a dedicated toggle in Content Manager.
  • Administrators can activate Course Assistant globally through Core AI Activation Preferences.

Deployment & Considerations

Course Assistant is currently available in closed beta and is opt-in rather than default-on. Two administrative actions are required to make it available to learners.

First, activate the feature globally under Core Preferences > AI Activation Preferences, where the Course Assistant can be turned on. Second, enable it per content: open Content Manager, locate the update page for the relevant material, video, or SCORM, turn on the Allow AI-assisted features for this content toggle, and save. Once both are configured, learners will see Ask AI and contextual question options when they open that content in OnePlayer. Administrators should ensure they have the appropriate Content Manager permissions to access and modify content settings. As a closed beta capability, availability may be limited and behavior subject to change prior to general release.
